In 2012, Dr Jennifer Doudna and a small group of scientists, invented a ground-breaking technology to edit DNA called CRISPR-Cas9. Inside the Butterfly Net is a science based drama that uses a powerful story line to educate the audience about this breakthrough technology. We hope to inspire both faith and debate about the implications of using CRISPR and MRNA vaccines for the most crippling diseases. Now that we are are using CRISPR technologty for the Covid-19 vaccine, the door has been cracked. It is our responsibility for ourselves and our planet to push it open farther.

How far should we go to manipulate our basic building structures? What if doing so could save the lives of ones we love and change the outcomes of humanity?

As with many science and technology breakthroughs, The CRISPR is a Pandora’s box and not without justified controversy. But environmental factors such as pollution, stress, deforestation (in this case. The Everglades), diet, and a host of other influences cause disease regardless of our genes. With the DNA editing capabilities of the CRISPR-Cas9 we could learn to change our entire world.

“Inside the Butterfly Net” uses a triple award winning script to launch a candid conversation about the way we approaching health and well-being. The story interweaves the challenges of family life with a sick daughter, medical risks, eastern healing, Big Pharma, nature, teen life, and ultimately, the moral dilemmas and ethical decisions we must all consider as science continues to evolve.
